Second in my symmetrical character portrait series. I hope you enjoy it! I’ll upload a short Timelapse to instagram if you’d like to find it there.

This are currently at the experimental boundary of what I’ve already done and new unknown territory. I’m progressing in small steps with each piece, and now I can effectively get 80% of the silhouette and form in just a couple of minutes. The rendering process however is a lot more time intensive. This full piece took about 6 hours of solid work, not counting break time.

Of course, as Feng Zhou says, its important to take your time at first and really learn the process, speed comes with mileage and years of experience.
A few months ago I could have never done a piece to this level so clearly progress is being made, plus I’m really falling in love with drawing again so thats more than enough reason to stay the course. :D

Brief shout out to some of the teachers who really helped me improve in case anyone wants to learn.
Dynamic sketching with Peter Han
FZD design cinema on YouTube
Trent Kaniuga (all of his Gumroad/YouTube lessons are fantastic)
Scott Robertson’s Books How to Draw, and How to Render. No better books on perspective and technical drawing, genuinely the equivalent of a masters in art if you master everything in them.

And many others, If anyone wants more I’ll start leaving my learning resource recommendation in the comments here. Just lemmy know if that’s something you’d like. ^^
