Today we have a Hive Valkyrie. Insect skin on top of a Valkyrie (flying sword woman) in a serious, threatening tone.

I wanted to make the sword very subtle in terms of contrast with the rest of the armor. I figure what is the good of a weapon effectively wrapped in caution tape? A subtle weapon, and hands you cant see seems like a really scary combo.

I think the one thing I’m learning most of all is that the ability to draw or paint effectively is to be able to demonstrate subtler and subtler forms of contrast. I began with a lot of silhouette work, and form work and as I’ve gotten better I can render contrast down from silhouette to filling it completely with micro tones. I definitely have not mastered this yet. I still gravitate to abandoning full blacks and full whites without giving them the proper attention they need. Still though, lots of progress!
